The Boca DOC is one of the smallest and most ancient wine-growing regions in Alto Piemonte, where winemaking dates back to the Roman era. The Cantine del Castello
Conti estate sits in the hills of Boca, overlooking centuries-old terraces where Nebbiolo thrives in the region’s distinctive volcanic soils. The winery takes a hands-off approach, allowing the natural energy of the terroir to shape the wines.

The 2014 vintage was a cooler year, producing wines with remarkable finesse and tension. Boca’s high-altitude vineyards (400-500 meters above sea level) experience significant diurnal shifts, meaning warm days promote ripening while cool nights preserve acidity and aromatic freshness.
Rosso delle Donne is a Nebbiolo-dominant blend with a small proportion of Vespolina, a local grape that adds a spicy, peppery note. Aged for over three years in old oak barrels, the wine displays hits of rose petals, strawberries, violets. The palate is graceful yet structured, with bright red fruit, and a minerality that gives the wine a precise, lifted finish.

This is a wine for Nebbiolo lovers who appreciate the more ethereal and mineral-driven side of the grape. Its aging potential allows it to develop further tertiary complexity over time, making it a fantastic addition to any serious Piedmont collection.

Cantine del Castello Conti

In the quiet town of Maggiora, at the northern edge of Alto Piemonte, the three Conti sisters—Elena, Paola, and Anna—carry forward a legacy rooted in the volcanic soils of Boca. Their vineyards, perched at about 450 meters above sea level, are farmed organically and entirely by hand, honoring both the land and the memory of their father Ermanno. Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Uva Rara grow together here, blending in the glass as they do in the vineyard, shaped by long fermentations with native yeasts and aging in large oak casks. Each bottle represents sisterhood, and it's a testament to Boca’s quiet, enduring beauty.
