In the remote village of Neoneli, in central Sardinia, Cantina di Neoneli is writing a new chapter in the island’s viticultural story. A true collective project, the winery brings together local growers to preserve native varieties and traditions. Arcìvu Rosso 2023 is a field blend of nine Sardinian grapes—including Cannonau, Monica, Bovale, Muristellu, Carignano, and more—from bush-trained vines, many of them decades old. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak, maintaining freshness while adding subtle texture. Aromatically, it is rich with red fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and a touch of wild spice. The palate is medium-bodied and balanced, with soft tannins and a lively finish. “Arcivu” means “archive” in Sardinian dialect—a fitting name for a wine that captures and preserves the essence of local identity, soil, and community.

Cantine di Neoneli

In the heart of Barbagia, three friends—Samuel, Marco, and Salvatore—joined forces to revive their village’s fading vineyards and traditions. At around 500 meters above sea level, on granite and sandy soils, they farm Cannonau and other native varieties organically, harvesting by hand. In the cellar, fermentations rise freely, and aging unfolds in cement and neutral wood, giving wines their rugged soul and humble grace.
