Nestled in the hills of Suvereto, Tuscany, I Mandorli is a biodynamic estate deeply connected to its surrounding landscape. The Rosso 2024 is crafted primarily from Sangiovese, with possible additions of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, depending on the vintage. The vineyards face the Tyrrhenian Sea and benefit from constant breezes and mineral-rich soils. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. Aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, and Mediterranean herbs lead to a palate that is structured yet fresh, with fine tannins and an elegant finish. This is a wine that respects tradition but speaks in a contemporary voice—vibrant, clean, and expressive of its coastal Tuscan terroir.

I Mandorli

On the high ridges of Maremma, where vineyards open to the sea breeze, Carla Benini and Edoardo Ventimiglia built I Mandorli as both refuge and experiment. From the start they embraced biodynamics, tending Sangiovese, Vermentino, Cabernet and Alicante at 300–400 meters above sea level. Their work is slow, guided by the lunar calendar and by a reverence for the vitality of the land—cover crops, animals, and wild herbs all woven into the fabric of the estate. In the cellar fermentations are spontaneous, vessels are wood, steel or cement, and no intervention disturbs the natural voice of the grape.
