From the heart of Sardinia's Barbagia region, Mertzeoro's Barbagia Bianco is crafted exclusively from the indigenous Granazza grape, a variety recently revitalized in the area. The vineyards, situated at approximately 650 meters above sea level, thrive in granite-rich soils, imparting a distinctive character to the wine. Harvested manually in mid-September, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and a brief skin maceration. The wine is then refined for four months in the bottle, resulting in a fresh and authentic expression of Sardinian terroir. Mertzeoro, a family-run winery in Mamoiada, has been cultivating vineyards and producing wine for over two decades, with a deep respect for the land and its traditions.

Mertzeoro

High in Sardinia’s Barbagia, the Mertzeoro family has been tending their hillside vineyards in Mamoiada for over two decades. Nestled around 650 meters above sea level, they revive rare native varieties like Granazza and Cannonau across sunlit plots—Baduorane, Ghirada Mulinu, Sa Lahana. Farming happens by heart and hand—organic, thoughtful, intimate—with grapes harvested by hand, fermented spontaneously, and aged in steel, cement, or large wood depending on their nature. Whether it’s the Barbagia Bianco or the structured Ghirada Mulinu, every bottle hums with Sardinia’s generational care.
