Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella

As part of a shift in winemaking philosophy, Musella has moved away from the overly concentrated style of wines like Amarone, which gained popularity in the 80s and 90s, often criticized for becoming cloying and predictable. By using spontaneous fermentations and careful macerations, Musella creates wines that defy expectation, offering balance, freshness, and minerality. Their Valpollicella Ripasso follows the traditional “ripasso” method, where the wine referments on Amarone pomace, gaining extra depth and gentle richness without losing freshness. The blend is a mix of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and a touch of Barbera.

Musella

Cradled in the gentle hills east of Verona, Musella is a grand biodynamic estate born of vision and renewal. It all began in the mid-1990s when Emilio Pasqua Di Bisceglie, alongside his daughter Maddalena, set roots in a lovingly restored 16th-century courtyard. Across 400 hectares of forest, olive trees, vineyards, they tend native Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta, Croatina, Garganega, and other varieties at altitudes of 650–700 meters. From this living, breathing landscape they craft wines—Valpolicella, Ripasso, Amarone—that ferment with native yeasts and mature in vessels of cement, oak, and tonneau.
