The vineyards of Scarzello family are at least 40 years old and they are grown in Guyot. The winery operates exclusively an organic agriculture with the use of only copper and natural sulfur compounds, weeding is not done but manual or mechanical mowing and the harvest is exclusively manual.
The soils are sandy with the presence of friable calcareous marls. In the vinification phase, after a soft pressing of the grapes the wine remains to ferment and macerate for a couple of days, is then left on the lees for the following 6 months. Golden straw-colored with surprisingly thick tears given that this isn’t a high alcohol wine. Elegant nose with aromas of citrus and honey. A very bright first impression on the palate and quite unique: most noticeable is pear and lemon, but then comes a hard-to-place note that I wrote down as “butterscotch.” Reminiscent of a German Riesling in flavor, and of Chardonnay in body.
