Cantina Girlan, founded in 1923, is a renowned cooperative winery located in Alto Adige. The Trattmann Pinot Noir Riserva is produced from grapes harvested from the estate's oldest vineyards in Mazon and Girlan. The grapes are handpicked and fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, with 10% of the grapes vinified as whole clusters to enhance complexity. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in barriques, then for an additional 8 months in large wooden casks, and finally refined for 8 months in the bottle. This process results in a ruby red wine with garnet reflections, offering an intense and complex bouquet of maraschino cherries and spicy notes. It has an excellent tannic structure and persistent finish.

Cantina Girlan

Founded in 1923 by 23 winegrowers, Cantina Girlan is today a community of over 200 families cultivating around 220 hectares of vineyards across the rolling hills of Oltradige and Bassa Atesina in Alto Adige, at altitudes between 250 and 550 meters above sea level. Under the guidance of winemaker Gerhard Kofler, the growers work parcel by parcel, often on small plots with diverse soils of moraine, clay, and limestone. Farming is meticulous, harvests are done by hand, and fermentations rely on precision and respect for each grape’s character. The wines of Girlan—ranging from Schiava to Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero—carry both the heritage of nearly a century and the vibrant spirit of a cooperative where many voices unite in a single identity.
