Girò Bianco, Other native varieties, Vermentino

Alessia and Noemi Manca, helped by Gianpaolo Nedda and under the supervision of their father Pinuccio, are the guardians of a precious family inheritance. Their mission is to enhance the work of their ancestors who over time have created a unique viticultural heritage in the heart of Romangia. We will discover how the daily work is carried out following the slow rhythms of the vine and how the call of the vineyard has marked their lives since childhood.

We are exactly in the center of Romangia, Sardinia, at Badde Pira, where the medium age of the vines is 50 years old. The soil is predominantly limestone. After a manual harvest, of Vermentino, Girò and other indigenous varieties, the wine producer selects the bunches for the Ziggurat 2021 and does a soft pressing. The fermentation is just with spontaneous yeasts that are already on the skin of the grapes, in cement tanks; followed by 20 days of maceration. After this period the Ziggurat 2021 undergoes battonage for at least 4 months, differently then in previous years.

Antichi Vigneti Manca

On the hills of Romangia, in northwestern Sardinia, Antichi Vigneti Manca is run by two sisters, Alessia and Noemi, who decided to take over their family’s old vineyards rather than watch them disappear. It’s a small farm rooted in tradition, where most of the vines—especially the local Cagnulari—were planted by their grandparents.
The sisters work organically, respecting the rhythms of the land and doing almost everything by hand. Their approach is straightforward: low yields, native yeasts, minimal sulfites, and no unnecessary intervention in the cellar. The goal is to keep alive a way of farming and winemaking that belongs to their family and their territory.
