Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot

D’Alceo is the wine that perhaps best tells the story of Castello dei Rampolla. It comes from a vineyard planted by Alceo di Napoli Rampolla, where Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot found an unexpected home in the hills of Panzano. The 2019 is deep and concentrated, but never heavy: you'll find dark fruit, blackberry and blackcurrant notes,  but also scents of flowers, spice, tobacco and stone. The tannins are fine and firm, with a freshness that keeps the wine alive and gives it a long, precise finish. A powerful wine, but one whose strength comes above all from the vineyard and its balance.

Castello dei Rampolla sits in Panzano in Chianti, on land owned by the family since 1739. The winery took shape in the 1960s with Alceo di Napoli Rampolla, who worked to bring Cabernet Sauvignon into a land traditionally devoted to Sangiovese. Since 1994, the estate has followed biodynamic farming, seeing the vineyard as a living system in which people are part of the landscape, not its masters. Today, Maurizia and Luca continue this path, producing wines that combine the history of Chianti with a constant desire to experiment, from concrete and large oak to terracotta amphorae and wines made without added sulphites.
