Profumo di Vulcano comes from century old vines, often ungrafted, of Nerello planted on the northern slope of Etna in Passopisciaro at approximately 600 meters of elevation. The wine undergoes extended aging in tonneaux, largely neutral, for two years, followed by bottle refinement. No fining or filtration is used, preserving texture and structural integrity.

The 2022 vintage on Mount Etna in Sicily produced wines that are generally fresh, elegant, and expressive of the volcanic terroir. This is a focused, age-worthy Etna Rosso defined by altitude, volcanic soil, and restraint rather than opulence.

Federico Graziani became Italy’s Best Sommelier AIS in 1998, at just 23. His life changed after meeting Salvo Foti and visiting Etna in 2006: when he heard that a century-old vineyard in Passopisciaro was about to be uprooted, he bought it. That vineyard became the starting point for Profumo di Vulcano, a field blend made from the different native varieties growing together in the old vineyard, following the way Etna was traditionally planted.
