I Mandorli, a family-owned estate in Suvereto, Tuscany, is dedicated to producing wines that showcase the unique terroir of the coastal region. Sangiovese 2015 comes from the single vineyard Vigna alla Sughera, the historic cru of I Mandorli in the hills of San Casciano Val di Pesa. The estate works with a long-term, personal approach, farming organically and releasing wines only after extended aging. Vigna alla Sughera has always been central to the project, shaping a Sangiovese built around structure and time rather than early accessibility. A site-specific wine rooted in the rural landscape of Chianti.

I Mandorli

On the high ridges of Maremma, where vineyards open to the sea breeze, Carla Benini and Edoardo Ventimiglia built I Mandorli as both refuge and experiment. From the start they embraced biodynamics, tending Sangiovese, Vermentino, Cabernet and Alicante at 300–400 meters above sea level. Their work is slow, guided by the lunar calendar and by a reverence for the vitality of the land—cover crops, animals, and wild herbs all woven into the fabric of the estate. In the cellar fermentations are spontaneous, vessels are wood, steel or cement, and no intervention disturbs the natural voice of the grape.
