Vulcano Reds
There’s something compelling about drinking wine grown on land shaped by fire. On Sicily’s Etna, vines take root among lava flows, with the volcano still very much alive above them. Sciara’s 760 m explores Nerello Mascalese at altitude, where mountain air meets the Mediterranean sun. Alice Bonaccorsi’s Etna Rosso offers another expression of the same volcano, bringing together Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio from its northern slopes. Alberto Giacobbe’s Cesanese 2024 takes us to Lazio, where older volcanic soils meet a native grape deeply tied to Roman wine culture. Three reds connected by volcanic earth, each with its own story to tell.
