Le Macchiole - Paleo Rosso 2021

Paleo is Le Macchiole’s benchmark Cabernet Franc and one of the clearest arguments for Bolgheri as a terroir for Franc: coastal light, steady ventilation, and soils that swing between sandy gravel and clay-limestone give the wine both aromatic lift and structural authority. In 2021 the growing season finished very dry, concentrating fruit and tannin while preserving line and freshness.

In the glass, expect a more sculpted, aromatic expression than most Super Tuscans: crushed red and black fruit, violets, wild herbs. The palate is dense but tensile, with tannins that feel firm and architectural rather than sweet. This is a wine that rewards time, not because it needs to “soften,” but because its layers become more legible as it unwinds.
