Adapted to the particularly windy area of Gioia del Colle, Puglia, these clones allow Mariangela, her husband Vincenzo, and their two daughters to farm fully organically with low yields in the methods Mariangela’s grandfather taught her. Mariangela’s father and grandfather only grew and sold grapes until 2000, but the current generation makes their wine in a tiny cellar behind their residential home using traditional and older methods while including some temperature control to ensure freshness. “Every plant is different from another, like every person is different" is Mariangela’s inspiration behind her intensive focus on farming. 

I absolutely fell in love for the first time with Primitivo once I found Plantamura.  Perhaps that is because the winery is managed by 3 women, and one of the most kind and welcoming men I’ve ever met, that this wine is so balanced and delicious. This was the first Primitivo that I had ever tasted which wasn’t obnoxiously fruit forward and cloying on the palate, as often these wines, beyond being fruity, end up 16%+ in alcohol.  Being a Riserva, this wine is full, rich and velvety and ideal for grilled meats and bold dishes.
